Why Choose Us
Patients Trust Us For Dry Eye Treatment
Advanced Dry Eye Treatments Rarely Found in the Area
OptiLight IPL and Forma-I radiofrequency are not widely available in the region. Wendell Eye Care is one of the few practices offering this level of treatment locally, making it a destination for patients who have not found lasting relief elsewhere.
A Treatment Plan Built Around You
We evaluate every patient individually before recommending OptiLight, Forma-I, or a combination of the two, and we build a broader dry eye treatment plan that may include additional clinical therapies alongside these sessions.
Experienced, Trustworthy Care
Our doctors bring clinical depth to every evaluation. Patients receive an honest assessment of what each treatment can and cannot do for them, and are never pushed toward a therapy that is not the right fit.
What Our Dry Eye Treatments Include
When Drops Aren’t Enough, There Are Better Options
If you have been managing dry eye disease with artificial tears for months or years and still struggle with discomfort, blurry vision, or persistent irritation, you are not alone. Wendell Eye Care offers two advanced, in-office therapies, OptiLight by Lumenis and InMode Forma-I, that work at the source of dry eye by restoring healthy meibomian gland function.
OptiLight IPL
OptiLight is a safe, non-invasive intense pulsed light treatment applied to the area around the eyes to reduce inflammation, improve tear break-up time, and increase meibomian gland functionality. It is the only FDA-approved IPL for the treatment of dry eye.
Forma-I Radiofrequency
InMode’s Forma-I is a fast, effective in-office treatment with no downtime. It delivers radiofrequency energy to the small, delicate areas around the eyes to treat meibomian gland dysfunction, which occurs when the glands become blocked by thick secretions.
Meibomian Gland Support
Both treatments target the primary cause of evaporative dry eye disease, where the tear film evaporates too quickly because it lacks a sufficient oily layer. OptiLight stimulates the glands with light energy, while Forma-I uses heat from radiofrequency to melt clogged secretions and restore healthy oil flow.
Collagen Stimulation and Skin Benefits
Forma-I’s warmth also stimulates collagen within and around the glands, helping rejuvenate and restore their function while tightening the skin around the eyes and eyelids for improved blinking dynamics. OptiLight, in turn, improves skin tone and texture and softens the look of redness, sun damage, and signs of aging, for an overall more youthful result.
Non-Invasive, Low-Downtime Sessions
Neither treatment involves incisions or injections. Most patients tolerate both very well, need no anesthesia, and return to their normal activities immediately after each session.
What to Expect on Treatment Day
Simple Sessions, Lasting Relief
Most patients benefit from a series of four to six treatments. For both therapies, we apply a cooling gel and your practitioner uses a special handpiece to deliver the treatment. OptiLight IPL feels like a slight tingling or snapping with gentle warmth, while Forma-I feels warm like a hot stone massage.
After each session, your practitioner expresses your meibomian glands to restore normal oil flow, then applies recovery cream and sunscreen. You are free to go about your day as normal.

Common Questions About OptiLight and Forma-I for Dry Eye
Most patients are good candidates for one or both of these treatments. Because every case is different, we recommend a dry eye evaluation with one of our doctors before deciding on a plan, so we can confirm the right approach for your eyes and your goals.
Most patients benefit from a series of four to six treatments. Patients with more significant dry eye or rosacea may require additional sessions in order to improve and restore meibomian gland function. Your doctor will guide your expectations based on your individual presentation.
Results vary from person to person, but many patients see their symptoms improve for several months to years after treatment. We recommend maintenance sessions every six to twelve months to keep inflammation down and the meibomian glands unclogged.
There is no significant downtime after OptiLight or Forma-I. You may notice mild redness or warmth in the treated area that fades quickly. We will apply recovery cream and sunscreen, advise you to limit direct sun exposure for a short period, and most patients return to normal activity right away.
OptiLight and Forma-I are generally not covered by vision or medical insurance at this time. Our team will provide clear information on the cost before any treatment begins. We accept FSA funds and CareCredit financing for patients who would like a payment plan option.
