What is a contact lens exam?
Contact lenses are a fantastic way to correct for vision while improving convenience and confidence. However, it is important to understand exactly how to properly care for contact lenses to make sure your eyes stay healthy. During your contact lens exam, Dr. Lutz will spend time with you evaluating the fit of your contact lens, the health of the eye, and make recommendations to ensure you maintain proper eye health. Don’t worry if you are new to contact lenses, our staff will spend time with you practicing the proper way to handle, insert, and remove contacts and demonstrate proper cleaning techniques. We will walk you through the process and make sure you feel 100% comfortable with your new contact lenses even if it requires more than one visit.
Are Contact Lenses Right for me?
“Are contact lenses right for me?” is a question we hear frequently at our office. Current contact lens technology has made the option of wearing contact lenses a reality to more people than ever before. We now have the ability to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and even for those who need reading glasses. We are now able to make contact lenses for a wide range of prescriptions to allow us to fit those who were previously told contact lenses weren’t an option for them. If you want to know if contact lenses are right for you, please ask Dr. Lutz or one of our staff members for more information.
“How early can my child start wearing contacts?”
Dr. Lutz believes that contact lenses are a great way to correct kids vision and improve confidence in the classroom and performance during athletic events. He also likes to stress that contact lenses are a privilege and must be cared for appropriately. Daily disposable contact lenses are a great option for children because they require no daily cleaning routine and lenses are replaced daily, making this the healthiest, safest, and most convenient option. There is no magic age that children can start wearing contacts. When you come in for your child’s eye exam, Dr. Lutz will be happy to sit down with you and your child and discuss your options, listen to your concerns and decide together if your child is a good candidate for contact lenses.
